Big Wellness Loves Middle-Aged Women… But Here’s Why You Don’t Have to Fall for the Hype and Why I'm Not Selling You the Next Great Biohack

If you missed the latest Dr. Mindy video, buckle up, friend—because she came in hot, and honestly? Same.
The New York Times recently declared that “Big Wellness loves middle-aged women.” Of course they do.
We’re fabulous… and we’ve got disposable income, real problems, and zero time for nonsense.
But the real reason Big Wellness loves us?
Because exhausted, inflamed, not-sleeping, weight-struggling women are the easiest group to market quick fixes to. And the wellness industry knows it.
This is exactly why I wanted to break down Dr. Mindy’s message for you, through the Balanced and Nourished Living lens—faith-rooted, lifestyle-first, no-fluff, and allergic to gimmicks.
Let’s talk about how to stop getting sold to and start getting stronger, wiser, and more empowered in your own health.
1. The Question That Should Come Before Any Supplement, Biohack, or “Miracle” Protocol
Before you buy a product, jump into a peptide cycle, or let Instagram convince you that healing is one
$79.99 tincture away… ask yourself:
Have I actually done the lifestyle work first?
Not perfectly. Not “I rearranged my entire life and started dry brushing by candlelight.”
Just honestly.
Have I changed when I eat?
Am I sleeping like a grown woman or doom-scrolling until my brain melts?
Am I moving my body like it matters?
Is my nervous system waving a little white flag?
This is why we love fasting, circadian eating, protein-forward meals, strength training, and stress resets. Not because they’re trendy—but because they WORK. They’re free. Or nearly free. And lifestyle is where the true metabolic healing begins.
Even Dr. Mindy says it: lifestyle saves you. Not the supplement aisle.
2. Not All Supplements Are Saints—Here’s the Truth
Dr. Mindy pulls the curtain back on something most women don’t realize:
Most supplement brands are pulling from the same 3–5 manufacturers. Many can’t even provide toxicity reports.
Yikes.
Quality and integrity matter. Transparency matters. “Here’s our testing, sourcing, and safety data” should be the bare minimum, not a bonus.
If a brand can’t answer your questions? That’s your sign to back away slowly like you found a snake in your boot.
In my Balanced and Nourished Living coaching, I teach smart supplementation—focused, intentional, and never based on fear marketing.
3. Your Body Is Not Meant to Be on Everything Forever
Supplements are tools, not personality traits.
Dr. Mindy recommends this rule, and I co-sign it with both hands:
Use it 90 days → stop → ask your body, “Did this actually help?”
If yes? Great. You got the benefit. Take a pause so your body can hold the gain.
If no? Congrats, you just saved yourself hundreds of dollars and a cabinet full of half-used bottles.
This applies to:
minerals
peptides
red light
grounding mats
fancy gadgets
and every shiny thing TikTok told you to buy at 1 a.m.
Healing is not a shopping strategy. It’s an intentional, thoughtful conversation with your body.
4. Even the Things That Work Need a Sabbath Rest
This is where the faith lens fits beautifully.
Rest is woven into creation. Your supplements need rest too.
Your body thrives on rhythm, not constant input. So take breaks. Evaluate. Let God’s design show you what’s actually working.
5. And Now… Influencers. Let’s Go There.
Most influencers—health, beauty, fitness, financial, the whole lot—are paid through:
affiliate links
flat-fee promotions
That doesn’t make them bad people. But it does mean you need discernment.
Dr. Mindy does transparency well, and I aim for the same. My community exists to empower women in truth, not to turn you into a walking promo code.
This is why long-form content matters. You get nuance. You get teaching. You get the “why,” not just the “buy.”
Let me be fully transparent with you. I do offer affiliate links for products that I have personally vetted and trust. I do receive small commissions on those when you purchase through the links I share at no extra cost to you.
6. The Gospel Truth of All of This
No supplement is your savior. No influencer is your healer. No shiny wellness gadget is the missing piece you’ve been searching for.
Your lifestyle is the thing that transforms you. Your daily choices. Your rhythms. Your boundaries. Your protein and fiber and light exposure and sleep. Your commitment to stewarding your health with wisdom, not desperation.
And the beauty? God designed your body to respond. He built in repair systems. He built in renewal. He built in resilience.
You’re not broken. You’re just being invited back into intentionality.
